The frogfruit tree grows in the perpetually humid climate of South-East Asia. It is also found along mangrove swamps. The tree grows to a height of up to 15 metres. Its kidney-shaped pods are not edible for humans. The wood of the Cynometra ramiflora tree is used to produce charcoal and as firewood.
