Offers for Teachers & Schools

Use the Zoo Zurich as an extracurricular learning environment. We offer you and your students many opportunities for self-directed, meaning-based, and science-oriented learning.

Please let us know in advance if you are planning a visit to the zoo as a school, daycare center, or after-school program.

Our school programs cover various areas of competence in Curriculum 21, particularly in the subject area “Nature, People, Society” (NMG) and in the interdisciplinary area “Education for Sustainable Development” (ESD). You can find a detailed overview here:

Our Request to You

We are pleased that you are allowing your class to work independently. Please make sure your students are familiar with the rules for visiting the zoo beforehand. It is especially important to us that our animals are treated with respect.

  • To protect the health of our animals, feeding is strictly prohibited at Zoo Zurich. The only exceptions are the public feeding experiences we offer and supervise.

  • It is strictly prohibited to climb over barriers or reach into animal enclosures—for the protection of both animals and people.

  • Animals need rest breaks, too. Please ensure that your students do not tap on the glass, throw objects, or attempt in any other way to attract the animals’ attention.

  • During interviews, guided tours, and workshops, it is the teachers’ responsibility to maintain discipline among their students. In unmanageable situations, staff members are free to terminate the conversation, tour, or workshop.
