Nam-nam tree

Cynometra cauliflora

The seeds of the nam-nam tree are edible. They are eaten raw, but can also be cooked or roasted.

The slow-growing nam-nam tree reaches a height of up to 15 metres and is found in relatively dry, but also very humid, tropical regions and even on the edges of saltwater mangrove swamps. The plant is native to South-East Asia, but its distribution now extends to Africa, Madagascar, the Caribbean and Central America.
